Mark A Cierpial, PhD, RAC is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Impact Pharmaceutical Services (IMPACT). Dr. Cierpial plays an active role in consulting on drug development strategies for IMPACT clients. Prior to joining IMPACT, Dr. Cierpial was Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Strategic Drug Development Services at SRA International (formerly Constella Group) (public company; 1001-5000 employees). In this capacity, he was responsible for the provision of international regulatory affairs, medical writing, and drug development services. His biomedical research experience covers a broad range of therapeutic areas, and includes work on both drugs and biologics.
Dr. Cierpial joined SRA through acquisition of Lineberry Research Associates (LRA) into the Constella Group in 2006. At LRA, he was the Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all aspects of clinical, regulatory, biometrics, and quality assurance operations. Prior to joining LRA in 1996, Dr. Cierpial was a Senior Clinical Research Scientist with Glaxo Wellcome Inc. At Glaxo Wellcome, he was involved with the clinical development of therapies for epilepsy and smoking cessation and served as the International Product Development Team Leader for a novel antipsychotic agent. Earlier in his career, Dr. Cierpial spent five years on the research faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at the Duke University Medical Center. He holds a BA in Biology and in Psychology from the George Washington University, and a PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Virginia. He also earned his US Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) from the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS) in 2005.
