IMPACT Employee Honored as the “Triangle’s Finest” by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Research Triangle Park, NC: 7 December 2017 – This fall, IMPACT’s Rachel Cohen participated in the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation’s annual “Triangle’s Finest” event, a program for Triangle-area men and women committed to professional development and personal growth through fundraising and awareness.

On November 3rd, 4 individuals were honored at the Brewer’s Ball celebration where over 200 attendees gathered at Bond Brothers Beer Company in Cary to celebrate the Triangle’s Finest and benefit the CF Foundation. In addition to Rachel, Caroline Teachey (Chiesi USA), Sarah Stokes (Gluten-Free with Sarah B), and Charles Webb (Starbucks Coffee) were honored by the CF Foundation.

On a gorgeous fall night amidst a casual environment including craft beer, tasty food from local vendors, and auction items galore, Rachel (left) was recognized as the “Triangle’s Finest Young Professional of the Year” after raising the highest amount of the 4 honorees.

In 7 weeks, Rachel raised over $8000 by online fundraising, corporate sponsorship, co-hosting a donation Yoga for Runners class with Arrichion Durham, and receiving a portion of proceeds from events held at Bull Street Gourmet & Market and Wine & Design Durham.

Rachel’s mentor during the program and CFF Carolinas Chapter Board Member and past Board Chair, Cat Lineberry said, “Rachel was one of the most impressive participants we’ve ever had in this program. Her initiative, creativity, and passion for the cause were inspirational and greatly appreciated by our Board and CF families. I was proud to have had the opportunity to work with Rachel.”

Rachel has continued the IMPACT tradition by being the fourth nominee that IMPACT has sponsored for the CF Foundation’s annual event. Jason Horn was IMPACT’s inaugural nominee in 2011, Lori Davis participated in 2014 (read press release here), and Erica Allen represented IMPACT in 2015 (read press release here).

Of her Triangle’s Finest campaign, Rachel stated, “After researching cystic fibrosis for 3 years as a graduate student at UNC, the Triangle’s Finest campaign was a wonderful opportunity to continue supporting the CF community in a new way. I could not have surpassed my fundraising goal without the support of my coworkers at IMPACT, especially our boss, Mark Cierpial!”

When asked about IMPACT’s participation in the Triangle’s Finest program and its support of fundraising for the CFF, IMPACT CEO and CFF Carolinas Chapter Board Member, Mark Cierpial stated, “IMPACT is proud to be a long-time supporter of the outstanding work being done by the CFF in search of a cure for cystic fibrosis. The Triangle’s Finest program is another opportunity for us to contribute to the cause through our nominee, and we couldn’t be more proud of the leadership and commitment to community service that Rachel demonstrated during this year’s event.”

Continuously inspired by stories like those heard at the Brewer’s Ball from Kirsten Gebhardt, mother of a daughter with CF, IMPACT and its employees continue their support of the CF Foundation throughout the year at other events such as Master Chefs and Great Strides.
