IMPACT’S Making an IMPACT Initiative Celebrates the First Half of 2018

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC: 26 July 2018 – In the first half of 2018, IMPACT’s employees continued their generous efforts via the Making an IMPACT (MAI) community service initiative. Together, we held several donation drives for various charities, as well as our annual March Madness fundraiser.

IMPACT Spreads the Love on Valentine’s Day

In February, the MAI team wrote valentines to all our fellow IMPACT colleagues to show how much we appreciate and value the unique contributions of each employee! The MAI team gave personalized notes to every IMPACT employee along with a goodie bag filled with treats.

In addition, the MAI team unveiled The Kindness Calendar: a wall-hanging calendar that contains laminated cards describing acts of kindness. Our particular calendar was designed for IMPACT employees to foster our connection with each other and promote camaraderie.

IMPACT’s 5th Annual March Madness Prizes Go to 3 Worthy Charities

In March, IMPACT hosted our 5th annual March Madness NCAA basketball charity bracket fundraiser! Many thanks to the IMPACT employees, family members, and friends who participated; together we raised $630! Following a matching donation from the MAI team, we were able to donate a total of $1500 to the top 3 charities!

This year’s winners were:

TLC’s mission is to create a healthier and more vibrant Triangle region by safeguarding clean water, protecting natural habitats, supporting local farms and food, and connecting people with nature through land protection and stewardship, catalyzing community action, and collaboration. Spurwink Services’ mission is to provide behavioral health and education services for children, adults, and families. Their vision of success is: children, adults, and families affected by behavioral health challenges and developmental disabilities living healthy, engaged lives in their communities. DCRC’s mission is to work with the community to end domestic and sexual violence through advocacy, education, support, and prevention. We are so proud to support the admirable efforts of these charities to give back to their communities!

IMPACT’s 5th Annual Great Strides Walk for CFF

For the 5th year in a row, Erica Allen led the IMPACT team to walk and raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!

Thanks to our walkers/fundraisers: Mark, Erica, Rachel, Caroline, the Garver clan, Erin, BJ, Lena, Beth, Nick, and related kids and dogs!

This year we raised $1935 to fight cystic fibrosis!

First Annual NHL Stanley Cup Playoff Charity Bracket

In May and June, IMPACT employees and their friends and family made picks with their heads and their hearts in MAI’s 1st NHL Stanley Cup Playoff charity bracket. Through the rounds, Erica and Tim kept everyone updated about the status of the bracket and their favorite teams. Overall, $230 was raised from 23 participants, which was matched by the MAI team to donate a total of $950 to the top 3 charities!

The winners were:

Loved Twice collects donated baby clothes and packages them into wardrobes for those in need at hospitals, shelters, and clinics. Triangle Special Hockey’s mission is to educate, motivate, and encourage individuals who have developmental and/or physical disabilities to participate in the sport of ice hockey. Wake County SPCA transforms the lives of pets and people through protection, care, education, and adoption. IMPACT is proud to support these charities, and we look forward to next year’s bracket winners!

Dress for Success/Suited N Success

This spring, the employees at IMPACT cleaned out their closets to help underemployed and unemployed men and women of the Triangle thrive in their professional lives. More than 10 tailored suits and enough clothes to dress 40 people were donated to Dress for Success Triangle (women’s clothes) and Suited N Success (men’s clothes). A big thanks goes out to all those who supported this great cause!

As part of the MAI initiative, IMPACT employees come together as a team for larger community projects several times a year. Projects are chosen based on charities or efforts that have strong connections to IMPACT employees and their families. In addition, IMPACT supports and promotes their employees’ efforts to give back to their community by providing them 4 hours of paid time off per month to pursue volunteer work.
